JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Aw, where are the JCAs? New post here. Review of the ribbed card in black, which styled easily with the rose print tank and pleat front mini skirt.

  2. I took the plunge last week when the Factory had the 40% off promo and used my Gilt voucher. Thanks to Gigi at Gigisgoneshopping.com for the tip! This gal is on it--love her! You'd be a great shopping partner. :)
Bought the Factory version of the drapey pant (item c2371) in dark ebony. A few things: 1.) I love this pant. I bought an 8 and a 10 to try and I am sticking with the 10 for a comfy, drapey style. The 8 was a touch too fitted on my frame--could have gotten away with it, but I wanted to go for comfort. 2.) The color IRL is a charcoal grey and not a black color. Not a big deal for me, but if you are looking for a black pant, this isn't it. 3.) How to style? Could I get away with wearing them to work? We are business casual, but I don't want to look sloppy.

    1. Elizabeth, I recently bought a pair of the drapey pants from Banana Republic in navy. Styled right, I think you can pull them off at work. I'm in a business casual environment as well (at what's already a fairly conservative company). Last week I wore them with the mint Elsie heels, the mint merino/cotton tunic and a navy herringbone blazer. I'm wearing them again today with the cove floral blouse (untucked), a merino cardigan and pointy toe flats. They are so comfortable!

    2. Thanks, Anne! This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear/read. And it looks like I'll be hitting up BR! :)

  3. I'm interested in the Factory strappy patent heels, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried these on? Do they runs TTS? Are they comfortable? I'm tempted to order them.

  4. hi everyone. this is kind of a off-topic post, but dont know where to ask this.
I just made my first ever jcrew purchase...actually jcrew factory this past weekend. I got the cotton-linen elastic skirt in navy and stripe.

My quickie questions are for those that own these type of skirts (i see they are quite a common factory item):
    1. how well do they wash--do they shrink significantly?
    2. do they wrinkle as the day goes by?

    Thanks so much.
